Apple CarPlay allows you to connect your phone to your car, and in a way, its like having an IPhone on your idrive in your BMW. It allows you to play music from your music apps, listen to your text and whatsapp messages, send and receive calls, use Waze and Google Maps, and so much more.
How to add CarPlay to my vehicle that is 2016 or newer?
If your car has the NBT EVO headunit with ID5 or ID6, and it is manufactured after 2016, your car most likely has the software to run CarPlay, it just needs to be coded in and activated. - We can do this for you, or you can do it yourself. All you need is a USB and a laptop. Simply purchase the product here, and send us your VIN number. We will reply with the activation file for your vehicle. Simply transfer the file to your USB, plug it into your armrest USB port and follow the instructions we will send you. Within 5 minutes you should have CarPlay activated.
Carplay doesn't work for me, even after coding?
If we've told you that CarPlay can be activated in your car, but after coding you have problems adding your phone to the system, it is most likely due to your car not having a wifi antenna installed. This is needed for CarPlay to work properly in BMW vehicles. To install this, you need to remove your headunit and install a wifi antenna to it, then replace it. You won't need to code the idrive again if you already did it previously. We can install the wifi antenna for you for only £50. (We are based in East London, simply message us to book in)
